Dubbed Day of Doom, the limited time mode (LTM) allows players to face off against each other in two 16-player teams as Doctor Doom’s Henchmen and Allies of the Avengers.
Those playing as the Henchmen are tasked with collecting six Arcane Artefacts, while it’s the Avengers’ job to stop them. If the Henchman are successful in their mission, they then have to eliminate the remaining heroes to win the game.
“Fight for the cause of the Avengers and take down Doom’s forces using items like the new Iron Man’s Combat Kit and unvaulted Stark Industries Energy Rifle,” a Fortnite news release reads.
“Or, as one of Doom’s Henchmen, race to collect fragments of Pandora’s Box scattered across the Island and wield the formidable power of Victor Von Doom himself as Doom’s Chosen!”
Given the game mode incorporates Doctor Doom, the masked Marvel supervillain who inspired MF DOOM’s post-KMD persona, it’s only fitting that the late rapper’s “Trap Door” collaboration with Jake One — from the producer’s 2008 album White Van Music — was used by Fortnite to promote their latest update.
Day of Doom launched on Tuesday (September 17) and will be available to play until October 4.

In other news, a new biography on MF DOOM, titled The Chronicles of DOOM, received an official release date and cover back in March.
The news was unveiled by publishing house Astra House Books, who shared the details via Instagram
The post read: “Astra House is proud to reveal the cover of the definitive biography of MF DOOM, The Chronicles of DOOM: Unraveling Rap’s Masked Iconoclast by S.H. Fernando, in honor of the 20th anniversary of Madvillain’s Madvillainy, which went on to become one of @stonesthrow best-selling albums and regarded as one of the greatest hip hop albums of all time.”
The book is set to arrive on October 29.
The news was first unveiled back in 2022 when the New York-based publisher announced that they had acquired the worldwide rights to the book.
The Chronicles of Doom: Unraveling Rap’s Masked Iconoclast is described as “a sweeping and definitive biography” that “recount[s] the rise, fall, redemption and untimely demise of one of Hip Hop’s most enigmatic and influential figures.”
Also in March, DOOM and Madlib‘s cult-classic album Madvillany was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), almost exactly two decades after its original release on March 22, 2004.
Stones Throw Records founder Peanut Butter Wolf previously celebrated Madvillainy‘s 20th anniversary by sharing some fun facts about the making of the album.
He added: “The LA release party was at The Fonda (a modest sized venue) and we stacked the bill w/ me, J Rocc, Madlib, Dilla, and Common, besides (the headliner) DOOM because we were afraid it wouldn’t sell out. We did a few more shows that month with the same lineup in a few major markets to small but very excited crowds.
