Nick Cannon is a man who knows his way around taking care of children, and now he’s taking that brain power and applying it to pursuing an advanced degree in child psychology.

While making an appearance on Dr. Laura Berman’s The Language Of Love podcast on Sunday (June 18), the Wild ‘N Out creator spoke about his multiple children and his shift toward obtaining his official collegiate paperwork in the vast field.

He stated that his reasoning for getting a master’s in child psychology was because he wants to be a better father to his 12 children (Moroccan, Monroe, Golden, Powerful Queen, Zion, Zillion, Legendary, Onyx, Rise, Beautiful, Halo, and the late Zen who passed away at five months old in December 2021).

“Oh, the presence of a father and how much will they need you and the Freudian aspect of reverting back to your childhood trauma, or the lack thereof,” Cannon said. “Nature vs nurture. These are conversations I have several times every single day.”

He added: “I’m living, whether in therapy on my own or even just wanting to make sure that every single child has what they need, developmentally. And emotionally. I’m studying the brain and at what point does sensory matter.”

In reference to being a more present father, Nick Cannon recently revealed which child he spends the most of his time with.

Last month, during an episode of The Jason Lee Podcast, he revealed that his 8-month-old daughter, Onyx — whom he shares with LaNisha Cole — gets the lion’s share of his attention.

“[She] is probably the one I spend the most time with,” he told Lee. “I’m with her at least three times a week, for the full day. But I don’t put that out there in the media, social media [because] it’s not for them. But you know, LaNisha [Cole] and I have a super strong understanding and our co-parenting operation is so solid.”

He continued: “I got a nursery in my office. I’m literally gonna leave here to make sure that I can spend the most time with her—not against all my other kids because all my other kids, they’re in school, they’re babies, as well as Onyx, but the fact that I appreciate that LaNisha gives me the respect enough to allow me to have [Onyx], really, as equal amount of time as [LaNisha] does.”
