NBA YoungBoy is not a fan of the “demonic” music industry, but he has accepted that he willingly chose to be a participant.
The elusive rapper recently granted a rare interview to Complex at his Utah home, where he’s been on house arrest since 2021. Though it was supposed to be a tour of his closet for the outlet’s Complex Closets series, it ended up being a much deeper conversation.
“It’s a demonic industry that I chose to be a part of,” he said in the clip, published on Tuesday (November 21). “So it’s like, I accept it. I run with it. But don’t be a dummy at the same time. You gotta understand, they’re using me as entertainment. And this shit becomes self-destruction too, ’cause I ain’t an entertainer. Some shit can’t be spoke on. Why? Man, ’cause this shit is to be continued.”
You can watch the full interview below. The music industry conversation happens around the 3:28 mark.
NBA YoungBoy dropped his latest mixtape, Decided 2, on November 10. It serves as a sequel to 2018’s Decided, and marks his fourth project of 2023, following January’s I Rest My Case, April’s Don’t Try This At Home and May’s Richest Opp.
Rod Wave is the sole feature on the 18-track effort – and Fredo Bang recently revealed that he thinks YB’s relationship with him is the reason why Rod isn’t texting him back these days.
During a live stream earlier this month, he said that his friendship with Wave had gone cold.
“Tell Rod Wave — he seen me fuckin’ write him. I know he best friends with dude now. That why he stopped texting me,” Fredo said.
Fredo Bang and NBA YoungBoy’s issues first became public knowledge in the summer of 2020. Fredo jokingly referred to YoungBoy as his “son” when they were dropping music on the same day.
NBA YoungBoy didn’t take kindly to the reference, firing back on Instagram by writing: “Ima catch you & bang yo scary ass.”
