Funkmaster Flex has co-signed Drake‘s claim that artists and record labels are paying radio stations for airplay.
Drizzy sent shockwaves through the industry this week with two legal filings against Universal Music Group, accusing the music giant of engaging in payola and using streaming bots to artificially boost the popularity of Kendrick Lamar‘s hit diss song “Not Like Us.”
Reacting to the unprecedented move, the veteran Hot 97 DJ backed up Drake’s payola allegations by writing on X (formerly Twitter): “DRAKE IS 100% RIGHT! NATIONAL PLAY! (PER......
The history of rap music, all things considered, doesn't go back too far. The genre came out of New York in the late 1970s and early 1980s, and it was about a decade before it got its footing.
Which makes its rise and indelible impact all the more amazing. In just over four decades, rap has had a major influence on popular culture and American society — often as the touchstone for trends and speaking truth to power.
As rap music continues to evolve, we look forward to the future and appreciate the past. These are the greatest rap songs of all time.

Katt Williams has addressed the salacious comments he made about Diddy in his viral interview with Shannon Sharpe from earlier this year.
During his appearance on the former NFL player’s Club Shay Shay podcast, Williams insinuated that the Bad Boy boss would proposition men for sex at his parties.
Asked about the remarks in a new interview with GQ, the comedian cited his close connection with 2Pac, whose 1996 death has long been rumored to have been orchestrated by Diddy.
“When I was a young man, Tupac was my favorite......

Kendrick Lamar‘s surprise new album GNX has met with near-universal praise, but there’s at least one person who’s not feeling it: Lil Wayne.

Kendrick Lamar‘s new album GNXopens with a bang, as the song “wacced out murals” mentions controversies with both Lil Wayne and Snoop Dogg. Now, the latter has responded in an upbeat, humorous way befitting his West Coast godfather status.
On the track, the title of which nods to a Compton mural of Kendrick being defaced by a Drake fan earlier this year, the Pulitzer Prize winner shares his thoughts on Snoop Dogg’s support of the 6 God.
“Snoop posted ‘Taylor Made,’ I prayed it was the edibles/ I couldn’t believe it, it was only......

Kendrick Lamar is taking accountability for the lack of output from the defunct-supergroup Black Hippy.

On the last verse, he acknowledges that the group never put out an album because he became focused on other endeavors.
“I jog my memory, knowin’ Black Hippy didn’t work ’cause of me/Creatively, I moved on with new concepts in......

Dame Dash has finally been divested of his 1/3 share of Roc-A-Fella Records after a long-planned auction, and there’s a surprising new owner: the state of New York.
Dame’s share was sold as part of a judgment in a legal proceeding against him. At the auction on Thursday (November 14), the New York Postreported that the winning bid $1 million bid was placed by an anonymous state government employee. A portion of that million will reportedly go to New York City, to help collect Dash’s unpaid child support.
The reason the state bought the share of the company......
