Juvenile‘s 1998 smash “Back That Azz Up” was famously sampled by Drake for his 2011 album Take Care, and the New Orleans legend is still reaping the benefits over a decade later.
During a conversation with Jeremy Hecht for HipHopDX published on Wednesday (October 23), Juve recalled hearing Drizzy’s reworked version “Practice” when it first came through and confirmed he’s still receiving royalties from the sample, as well as from others who have used the beat (which includes Beyoncé, City Girls, Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign and......

Metro Boomin and Timbaland both apparently agree with Dr. Dre‘s take on the state of Hip Hop production.
In an Instagram post on Monday (October 21), Timbo shared an excerpt of a recent interview Dre and Snoop Dogg did with Stephen A. Smith. In the interview, Dre criticized rap albums that feature production from a large number of producers.
“Find your collaborator. I don’t like the fact that there are, like, nine different producers on one album. I like the idea of one producer on one album. Continuity is everything,” he......

DJ Envy has spoken out in defense of Diddy as the Bad Boy boss sits in jail awaiting trial on sex trafficking and racketeering charges.
The Breakfast Club co-host was speaking on his wife’s podcast The Casey Crew Show when he outlined his thoughts on Puffy’s criminal case, which accuses him of forcing women to have sex with male prostitutes for his pleasure and running a criminal enterprise that engaged in kidnapping, arson and bribery, among other crimes.
Referencing the mogul’s alleged “freak offs” and the enormous stash of baby oil that......

He began by saying that he had seen his label’s most recent profit and loss statement (commonly referred to as a “P&L”), and he wasn’t happy with the results.
“I just seen my P&L with all my artists,” he began. “You know it’s a whole......

Nicki Minaj has relished in the fact that her ex-boyfriend Safaree and his ex-wife Erica Mena have spilled their relationship troubles into the public spotlight.
The “Super Bass” rapper shared a live video on Thursday (October 17) and has suggested that Mena is getting what she deserves for harassing Nicki in the past.
She said: “I don’t know who needed to hear this but good for you [affected laughs]. Good for you! You see, sometimes you need to leave people dem alone. And ya see, sometimes when a queen is minding her business … they want the queen life......

It only took ten years, but Travis Scott’s beloved mixtape Days Before Rodeo was finally added to streaming services today. The project arrived just a year before his official debut album Rodeo, and to this day, it still stands as one of the best projects in Scott’s discography. That was often the case for rappers, especially in the mixtape era.
A lot of the projects that fans deemed to be their best work were indeed free mixtapes. At the time, mixtapes were a great promotional tactic for the album a rapper was about to put out, but now, many of them are going back in time to relive the success of the project, make some money off a......

Drake continues his redemption tour with another new feature verse, this time on Chino Pacas and Fuerza Regida‘s new single, “Modo Capone.” The title is Spanish for “Capone Mode” and, as he did with Bad Bunny on 2018’s “Mia,” Drake once again sings in Spanish here. Drake’s known for embracing regional and underground musical movements, so it was probably only a matter of time until he delved into música Mexicana.
As it turns out, he fits into the style about as well as he does any other — it helps that his presence here is limited to a single verse, while 18-year-old Chino Pacas and Fuerza......
